Change and control

Another three months and it'll be a year since Matt was diagnosed. Looking back I'm surprised how quickly everything has become part of our normal life, so much so that this last week nobody really noticed that Matt's test strips were almost finished and he's been eking out the last few until we collect his prescription. In the early days that would have been cause for guilt over lack of planning and foresight, but this time we all heaved a collective shrug of our shoulders and carried on as nor… Continue

2008

Happy New Year... I know I'm a little late, my excuse is that I have just started a new job and I have been buried with meeting new people, trying to remember names and learn about the organisation. So sorry for the hiatus. I hope you all survived the Christmas break unscathed. We've done pretty well with only a few highs, some of them a little unexplained which has been puzzling. Now we're back into the school routine hopefully things will settle again.

Finding our feet

It's early days and there isn't much to see here yet, but I hope that over time this will become a useful and thriving community of people who can find help, support and humour as we support our children's journey to adulthood with diabetes. This isn't my place, it belongs to all of us and I hope you'll feel welcome and able to share your thoughts and stories.

Hello, my name is Alexandra and I am the founder of Awareness Angels and co-run it (until I am a bit older). I have many ailments, and am MAD over so many of my "friends through fights" dying because of lack of awareness and research. Well, now rather than being MAD, I am M.aking A. D.ifference, and I would like to invite you to join me.

We, the "awareness angels" will enable you to help raise awareness for all children (and select other causes). We will supply you with weapons of knowledge and the shield of hope. Together we can make a difference for all...

We gather information for you on a cause. Your job (as a member) is to go out with your weapons (the statistics/information/etc) and fight....maybe set a goal to tell just one person a day, and possibly encourage them to tell others also. If you tell a person a day, and they tell another person, imagine how fast we can make a difference...until it no longer must hurt to be a child for so many children...for me, for my warrior friends, and for the ones who have been set free from their ailments (or situations in the case of child abuse) and now reside in Heaven.

There are so many ways you can help! It is truly not hard to do...I have been doing it for so long. The more you let your heart into it, the easier it will become to bring it up...for me, it comes up so easily...with no effort at all...because that is my life...being a warrior...for myself and for all children.

We are doing the hard part for you....we will give you everything you need. So is it too much to ask that you read the facts, and keep them in your heart as you go along your daily life?

So take the challenge...join us, and become an awareness angel!!!

(No I do not have diabetes but a few of the children I keep up with on my many pages throughout the internet do...I keep up with many ill children on many different sites and hope to make this a page where everyone can come and see all the updates all in one...in a way uniting us...united we will conquer! =D)
